We have built a prototypical safety helmet which can detect multiple gases exuding from mines in real time. It can keep track of worker’s real time location inside the mine. The helmet is also able to analyze the ever-changing environment of mines and alert the miner through different sounds, vibrations, lighting, and automatically sending a sos call to outside world in case of the immobilization of miner due to fainting. It will also keep track of miner’s body vitals such as respiratory system, body temperature, and active and inactive status. All of the data gathered by helmets will be stored in a cloud data which will later be analyzed to optimize the operations and early detection of accidents. Furthermore, in order to minimize the respiratory damage of miners, we will attach a state-of-the art mask to filter the air inside the mine.
